The Biomedical Research Institute (BRI) is pleased to announce a significant international distinction achieved by PhD Candidate Ms. Elena Rakovoliou at the 50th Congress of the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (50th FEBS Congress), which took place in Maastricht, The Netherlands (July 4–8).

Ms. Rakovoliou presented the team’s research entitled "Molecular Mechanisms of Vasculogenesis," which stood out among 977 entries. Initially, she was awarded "The FEBS Journal Poster of the Day" and during the closing ceremony of the congress, she won the major "The FEBS Journal Poster Prize" for the best poster of the 50th FEBS Congress. The final award was presented by Nobel Laureate, Professor Emmanuelle Charpentier.

The award-winning research was conducted at the Vascular Biology Lab of BRI, under the supervision of Dr. Carol Murphy and Professor Theodore Fotsis.

Ms. Rakovoliou's participation in the congress was supported by travel grants from the Hellenic Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (HSBMB) and the FEBS Bursary program.
